Congratulations on taking the first steps toward this life-changing experience! Below are the steps to follow as an NDSU student to get started with finding your program. (Not an NDSU Student?)
- Meet with a Peer Mentor
Peer Mentors are available every day mid-morning through 5PM throughout the academic year to walk you through the basics of study abroad at NDSU. Learn about NDSU's exchange partners and programs, registration, financial aid, traveling, and any other questions you may have about studying abroad. No appointment is need, so stop in any time for this valuable primer on how to get started!
- Look at programs and consider your goals for your study abroad program
Read Choosing a Study Abroad Program and think about what you are looking for in your program abroad. During this phase it's also recommended that you talk to your advisor as they can help you to determine coursework and the term to go abroad. You can also download a copy of the Study Abroad Brochure (818K PDF) for an overview of the many amazing opportunities available for studying, interning, and volunteering around the world!.
If you aren't certain which program to chose, set up an appointment with a study abroad advisor to talk over your options. Resources are also available here for diversity-related areas of disability, gender, LGBTQA, multicultural, non-traditional students, and veteran questions and concerns.
- Apply for your program
Search for the program you've picked, and click the "Apply Now" button to login and begin your application. Be sure to carefully follow the directions provided and complete all required application materials by the program's deadline.
Students who are applying to a program which cannot be found on our website can apply using the Non-NDSU Affiliated Program Application. More information is also available if you are planning to student teach abroad.
