Study abroad is a great way to learn about yourself, your heritage, and the world. 

Students from all backgrounds are strongly encouraged to study abroad. Below are some helpful resources for planning your study abroad experience. It's also helpful to attend a Study Abroad InfoSession and talk with the Study Abroad Advisor about any questions you have.

General Diversity Resources

Study abroad is affordable
Choose from exchange and faculty-led programs with the same tuition and fees as ndsu, or select from direct and affiliate programs where ndsu tuition is waived. students in a study abroad program can use their current financial aid toward program costs. Students are encouraged to apply for study abroad scholarships like those listed below.
  • - A valuable resource geared towards promoting study abroad opportunities for multicultural students.
  • Gilman Scholarships - This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.

  • General Disabilities Scholarship Listing - by
  • Rainbow Scholarship - Information available in the middle of the page. Scholarship for a "deserving LGBT student who aims to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms."
