Hi, my name is Mike Zastoupil, and I am a senior studying Sociology here at NDSU. I studied abroad at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Valparaíso, Chile, in the Fall semester of 2011. After being a student at NDSU for a couple of years, I knew that I couldn't leave college without taking the opportunity to study abroad at least once; it just sounded too awesome to pass-up. I was not concerned about getting credits that counted towards my major, I simply wanted to go and experience the adventure that living on your own in a different culture had to offer. I had some Spanish background (a few years of classes in high school and college), but I wanted to go somewhere less Westernized than Europe, and I loved the idea of the mountains, the city, and the beaches all packed into one long, skinny country - so I chose to go to Valparaíso, Chile. It was one of the best decisions of my life - it is truly an invaluable experience, and I would choose to do it again in a heartbeat!
My name is Toria Thelen. I am majoring in management communication and international studies. I like traveling, baking cookies, reading, and meeting new people. In the fall of 2011, I was lucky enough to study abroad at Linköping University, Linköping Sweden. Linköping University and NDSU have a direct exchange (meaning I paid NDSU tuition and saved some money), which was a very big reason why I chose it. Additionally, Sweden offered a great quality of life and lots of beautiful nature. Lastly, there is a pretty big focus on balancing work, play, and sleep at Linköping University, something I wanted to experience.
My name is Ashleigh Smith and I am a Public Relations major here at NDSU. I studied abroad in Aarhus, Denmark at the Aarhus School of Business. While I didn't do much studying, I had many great experiences and made tons of amazing friends that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have always had a love for traveling, so when my friend suggested that we study abroad together I was easily persuaded. I was also a senior while at ASB so just know that it is never too late to study abroad!
My name is Jon Wandersee, and I am a Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice and Political Science. I love sports, both playing and watching them, traveling, and doing pretty much anything outdoors. I studied in Rome, Italy for fall semester of my junior year. The main reasons why I chose to study in Rome are because I love its history and it has so much to see. From the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the Pantheon you can't run out of things to see or do.
