Students from all backgrounds are strongly encouraged to study abroad. Below are some helpful resources for planning your study abroad experience. It's also helpful to attend a Study Abroad InfoSession and talk with the Study Abroad Advisor about any questions you have.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • DiversityAbroad.com - A valuable resource geared towards promoting study abroad opportunities for multicultural students.
  • Gilman Scholarships - This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go by supporting undergraduates who might otherwise not participate due to financial constraints.
  • Plato Resources - This list includes scholarship and financial aid information underrepresented students in higher education and study abroad
  • General Disabilities Scholarship Listing - by Disaboom.com
  • Rainbow Scholarship - Information available in the middle of the page. Scholarship for a "deserving LGBT student who aims to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. Applicants must meet general FEA scholarship eligibility requirements & preferences. Students interested in being considered for this annual scholarship should indicate this through their application forms."

Veterans can use their benefits toward study abroad, but there are some important guidelines for the type of program to select and how the payments need to be billed. Check out the resources below for more details, and be sure to work with your study abroad advisor for any questions you have and to make sure that things are set up correctly for your billing.
