Study Abroad in Italy

Why Italy?
Life is good in Italy, and it’s passionately lived. Italian food is magnificent, Italian fashion is daring, Italian art includes some of the greatest masterpieces in history, and the Italian language is considered by many to be the most beautiful in the world. It’s a heady and fascinating place to live, and World Endeavors students in Italy get to experience it all first-hand. Studying abroad in Italy also represents a fantastic opportunity for travel—to each unique Italian city, to the breathtakingly lovely countryside, and to the rest of Europe. Whether pursuing an interest in Italian culture, language, and history, or simply looking for a chance to live in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, students in Italy will find all they’re looking for and more.
Live in Florence, Italy
It’s hard to imagine a better place to study Italian than in Florence. This was the birthplace of Dante, and since the country now speaks Dante’s Italian, in a way Florence is the birthplace of the modern Italian language. It’s also an artistic jewel box, boasting Michelangelo’s David, magnificent paintings by Botticelli and Raphael, and an abundance of gorgeous Renaissance architecture. That artistic tradition continues to this day: it’s common to see painters on the street corners and hear live music emanating from one of the city’s many beautiful churches. Nineteenth-century tourists used to become so overwhelmed by the artistic treasures of Florence that they would become dizzy and faint, a reaction that became known as “Florence syndrome.” If modern-day students keep from fainting, they’ll find Florence a fascinating and rewarding place to study, with a city center that’s easy to navigate on foot, the sun-drenched Tuscan countryside surrounding the city on all sides, and the rest of Italy just beyond and ready to be explored.
Program Snapshot

Academics : Upon successful completion of the program, credit and transcripts will be issued by a fully accredited US university. World Endeavors staff work with students and their academic advisors to ensure that students earn credit for courses taken abroad.

Students applying to this program must have:
  • Students must be at least 18 years old and in good academic standing.
  • Applicants should either be currently enrolled in college or university or have been enrolled previously.
  • Fluency in English is required. No previous Italian experience necessary.

Housing and Participant Life : Students live in shared student apartment housing. All apartments are furnished and have fully equipped kitchens. The cost of utilities is not included.
